Voices Rising is a combined adult and youth community chorus of over 100 voices located in Gainesville, Florida. The chorus, open to singers age 8 and up, was founded in 2013. Singers join for the pleasure of singing with others and the challenge of learning a wide variety of choral music. The chorus presents free concerts at least twice a year, in the spring and fall, with a percentage of the proceeds given to selected local charities at least once per season. Voices Rising is supported by membership dues and donations from supporters. Our Artistic DirectorRuth Lewis is the Artistic Director and Conductor for Voices Rising. Ruth has been active as a musician in Gainesville for over 40 years. She performs as a pianist, organist and harpsichordist, and maintains a private piano teaching studio. For many years she was Director of Music and Minister of Music at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville where she worked with choir singers of all ages, from 3 to nearly 90. She has a passion for working with intergenerational groups.
